Doing business with lower and higher corruption
This project attempts to shed light on the controversial argument in favour of corruption as compensation for perceived bureaucratic and market inefficiencies. It shows Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Ranks (CPI) compared with those of the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business for 173 countries in 2010. On the left, countries are ordered by the degree to which corruption is perceived to exist among public officials and politicians. On the right, they are organised by ease of starting and operating a local firm.
