How’s AFTA getting on?

ASEAN international trade performance from 1998 – 2006 is represented in a trade matrix. The Relative Importance Trade Matrix (RITM), indicates to what extent two or more countries are related, and trading groups are identified by using the Quadratic Assignment Problem (QAP). By identifying trading groups, it is possible to understand which countries have benefited from the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA). Simulation outcomes show the trends of overall trade with intra- and extra-regional partners.
